upBed is a small sensor worn on the resident's ankle while they sleep. upBed detects when the resident is about to wake up and notifies staff through their pager. This way staff get advanced notice to assist the resident and avoid falls.
upBed alerts through your existing nurse call system, allowing staff to receive alerts with the same devices they are using today. The resident hears nothing.
Traditional bed exit alarms are too loud and too late. Many facilities have stopped using them. This leaves staff and families with 15 minute round checks to prevent falls. But what happens between the 15 minute checks?
upBed provides full coverage without the need to continually check on sleeping residents and with complete privacy for the resident.
At upByte our long term vision is smart elderly clothing. We want to embed sensors in existing clothing, enabling applications like upBed that improve the care and independence of seniors. Check out our upBed PJs for an early example, and reach out if you're interested in learning more.
